H261 is the GHS (Globally Harmonized System) hazard statement “In contact with water releases flammable gas.” It belongs to the Emits flammable gas in contact with water hazard class and appears in Section 2 of a Safety Data Sheet and on the product label when a substance or mixture meets the classification criteria for that class and category.
