H231 is the GHS (Globally Harmonized System) hazard statement “May react explosively even in the absence of air at elevated pressure and/or temperature.” It belongs to the Chemically unstable gas hazard class and appears in Section 2 of a Safety Data Sheet and on the product label when a substance or mixture meets the classification criteria for that class and category.
